We hope to sell our Crouch End Honey here soon, so watch this space!
Our team at Queen Bees is made up of Esther, an experienced beekeeper, and Lucy, who deals with the admin side of things. We are dedicated to providing you with the best possible service and support. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, we're here to help you decide what kind of educational workshop would suit you best.
Our journey began when our founder, Esther, discovered a swarm in her London garden. This discovery ignited her fascination with bees and their importance to our ecosystem. Esther then began keeping bees of her own on her allotment in London. Her enthusiasm and knowledge led her to start spreading the word: offering educational workshops & talks.
Esther has been presenting the Hattrick Podcast, 'Queen Bees with Esther Coles and Jane Horrocks', since 2020. There are a total of 7 series, and if you scroll down you can find a few episodes of the podcast. The rest are available wherever you listen to your podcasts, if you fancy a listen! The podcast invites various guests from the bee world and beyond, such as Anabel Kindersley from Neal's Yard, Artist Wolfgang Buttress and scientist Martin Benscick, Paul Whitehouse and Jools Holland.
From her podcast came the idea of educating more people of all ages, from nursery-aged children to corporations, to events for hotels, such as the Ham Yard Hotel, and American Express.
Esther is an actor, writer and creative producer. She has performed in theatre, film and television roles and has also written a comedy for radio: 'The Allotment', which was about her bees and beekeeping.
Esther started her beekeeping journey when she trained with Urban Bees as part of the Plan Bee project run by The Co-Op, and has been keeping bees on her allotment and in her garden ever since.
Esther has worked with The London Beekeeper and Urban Bees delivering bee-spoke bee-related workshops and talks that are both informative and entertaining. She has delivered talks at The Hive at Kew Gardens, Somerset House, The RAF Club and St Ermin's Hotels. She has also run workshops for various groups including school children, refugees and end-of-life patients. She is also a keen gardener, working in an urban community garden. Her 'Life in the Hive' talk is a fun and informative insight into what goes on in a honey bee's world!
